Equipment

  • Blender
  • Ice Cream Maker (optional)
  • airtight container

Ingredients

  • To make your homemade Frosty you will need the following ingredients:
  • - 3 cups chilled chocolate milk the colder, the better
  • - 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk around half a can
  • - 4 oz frozen whipped topping that’s about half the tub
  • - 1 tsp vanilla extract for a touch of extra flavor
  • - 1/4 cup cocoa powder this will amp up the chocolate flavor

Instructions

Step 1: Blend the Ingredients

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Pour the chilled chocolate milk into your blender first. Next, add the sweetened condensed milk, the frozen whipped topping, the cocoa powder, and the vanilla extract. Blend the mixture until it’s completely smooth. You want a nice, uniform texture without any lumps. This step should only take about 30 seconds to 1 minute, depending on how powerful your blender is.

Step 2: Prepare the Ice Cream Maker (if using)

  • If you've got an ice cream maker, pour the blended mixture directly into your ice cream maker's bowl. Turn it on and let it churn. Many ice cream makers can take up to 20 minutes to reach that blissful, frosty consistency, so be sure to check it periodically. You’ll want to stop when it's at your desired texture—thick and dreamy.

Step 3: Freeze and Whisk Method (if not using ice cream maker)

  • For those who don’t own an ice cream maker, don’t worry! Pour your blended mixture into an airtight container and place it in the freezer. Every 20 minutes, give it a good whisking for about 1 to 2 hours. This helps to break up any ice crystals, leading to that velvety texture that Frosty lovers crave.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  • After you've (either) churned your Frosty or whisked it into perfection, it's time to serve! Spoon it into bowls, or if you’re feeling extra fancy, pour it into cups. You could even top it with some whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate syrup, but it’s delicious just as it is.

Notes

- Use Full-Fat Chocolate Milk: For the richest flavor and creaminess, opt for whole chocolate milk.
- Freeze Whipped Topping: If you want your Frosty to be super thick, consider freezing the whipped topping beforehand for better texture.
- Taste Test as You Go: Adjust sweetness or cocoa powder to match your personal preference.
- Use a High-Quality Blender: This makes a huge difference in achieving a creamy mixture.
- Get Creative with Add-ins: Consider adding a teaspoon of peppermint extract for a minty twist!
