Equipment

  • Clean, see-through container (e.g., glass jar)
  • Lid for the jar
  • Spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 gallon of water
  • 4 to 8 tea bags adjust based on desired strength
  • Sweetener of your choice simple syrup recommended for a smoother taste
  • Fresh lemon slices or wedges
  • A few sprigs of fresh mint
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey

Instructions

Step 1: Gather Your Ingredients

  • First, gather all your ingredients. Make sure you have a clean, see-through container. A glass jar works perfectly because it’s both visually appealing and functional.

Step 2: Prepare the Tea Bags

  • Place 4 to 8 Lipton tea bags into the jar. The number of tea bags you use depends on how strong you want your tea. For a milder tea, use 4 bags. If you prefer a stronger flavor, use up to 8.

Step 3: Add Water

  • Fill the jar with 1 gallon of water. Ensure that all the tea bags are fully submerged in the water.

Step 4: Place in the Sun

  • Cover the jar with its lid and place it in direct sunlight. Let it sit for 3 to 5 hours. The longer you let it steep, the stronger the flavor will be.

Step 5: Sweeten the Tea

  • Once the tea has brewed, remove the tea bags. Add simple syrup to the tea, stirring well to dissolve it completely. The amount of simple syrup you use is up to your taste preference.

Step 6: Add Fresh Lemon and Mint

  • Add fresh lemon slices and a few sprigs of mint to the jar. This not only adds a refreshing flavor but also enhances the visual appeal.

Step 7: Incorporate Honey

  • Finally, stir in 1-2 tablespoons of honey for a natural sweetness. Adjust the amount based on your preference.

Step 8: Chill and Serve

  • Refrigerate the tea for at least an hour before serving. Serve over ice with additional lemon slices and mint for garnish.

Notes

Use Fresh Ingredients: Always use fresh lemon and mint for the best flavor.
Sterilize Your Jar: For safety, make sure your jar is clean to avoid any bacterial growth during the brewing process.
Avoid Over-Steeping: Leaving the tea in the sun for too long can result in a bitter taste.
Control Sweetness Gradually: Start with a small amount of sweetener and add more to taste.
Experiment with Herbs: Don’t hesitate to add other herbs like basil or lavender for a unique twist.
