Paper towel-lined plate
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 strip crispy bacon about 1 ounce
- 1 sausage patty about 1 ounce
- 1 slice deli ham about 1 ounce
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon sautéed onions
- 1 toasted hamburger bun about 1 ounce
- 2 ounces sliced American cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
Step 1: Cook the Bacon
Start by bringing out a skillet. Place it over medium heat and add the bacon strip. Cook it until it’s crispy, which typically takes about 5-8 minutes. Once done, transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb the grease.
Step 2: Sauté the Sausage Patty and Ham
In the same skillet, add the sausage patty. Cook this for about 3-4 minutes on each side until it’s nicely browned.
Don’t forget to add the deli ham for the last minute of cooking. This will heat it up and give it a nice flavor without overcooking.
Step 3: Prepare the Eggs
Next, in a bowl, crack your single large egg. Whisk it until it’s blended and add a pinch of salt and pepper.
Using the leftover grease in the skillet, pour the egg mixture into the pan. Scramble until softly cooked. If you like your eggs more firm, cook for a few extra moments.
Step 4: Assemble the Bowl
Now it’s time to bring everything together! Start with the toasted hamburger bun at the bottom. Layer the scrambled eggs, followed by the sausage patty, crispy bacon, and warmed ham. Sprinkle the sautéed onions on top, followed by melty slices of American cheese.
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh eggs, high-quality meats, and freshly toasted buns give the best flavor.
- Customize: Feel free to swap out meats or add veggies. Bell peppers, spinach, or even avocado can enhance your bowl.
- Cooking Temperature: Don’t rush the cooking process. Medium heat ensures even cooking without burning.
- Save Time: If you’re in a rush, prep your meats ahead of time. Cook them in batches and store them in the fridge for quick assembly.
- Cheese Choices: American cheese is classic, but feel free to experiment with other cheeses. Cheddar, pepper jack, or even feta work well.
